The senior members register

See your older members in one list for pastoral visits. It starts at age 60, the UN's definition of an older person, and you can change the age and the name.

Who can do this
Anyone who can view members can open the register. Changing the age or the name needs permission to create members, which the Senior Pastor and Church Admin have.

The register lists your active members who have reached a set age, oldest first. Each row shows the member’s photo, name, age, phone number and address: what you need to plan a visit. Many churches review it every year.

  1. Go to Members → Senior Members. If your church has renamed the register, the menu shows your name for it instead.
  2. Search by name, member number or phone number, or narrow the list by marital status. For example, choose Widowed to see members who have lost a spouse.
  3. Select a member to open their record.

The starting age: 60

Until you change it, the register starts at 60. That is the age the United Nations uses to define an older person. A member appears on the list on their 60th birthday, by your church’s local date.

Change the age or the name

Churches call this group different things, such as Senior Members, Aged or Golden Age Fellowship. The default name is Senior Members. ChurchVex deliberately doesn’t use “Elders”, because in many churches that is an office, not an age group.

  1. On the register, choose Change age or name. This opens Members Settings.
  2. Set the Age threshold, anywhere from 40 to 120.
  3. Set What your church calls this group.
  4. Choose Save in that section.

The new name appears straight away in the menu, on the register and on the settings page. The list changes to match the new age.

Members with no date of birth

ChurchVex never guesses anyone’s age. A member with no date of birth recorded is left off the register. A note above the list says how many active members that is. Choose View them to open Members → All Members filtered to just those people, so you can add their dates of birth. Once a date is added, the member appears on the register if they are old enough.

What the register doesn’t do

The register is a list. It doesn’t change anyone’s departments or any other record, and it doesn’t send messages.
